Shaking Legs in Shower?

I got one symptom that is still ticking me off, and was hoping someone will share if they have ever had this. When I take showers, my legs start to tremble somewhat or shake. I think its just from the knee down but not real sure, just notice the knee caps shaking after I have been standing there for more than a few minutes. Is this you think, the same thing as what happens when some of us put weight on an arm and it starts to shake from the weight or pressure of the position??Any ideas?? Thank you for taking the time to readTake careRobynn :D)

It s interesting to note that this only happens in the shower, although I assume u stand for more than a couple minutes at other times of ur day. I get the shaking at times when leaning on my ARM and in other instances. Although u are only "standing" in the shower for a few minutes you are doing things that might be tiring your leg muscles. For instance, when u lift one leg to wash or shave the other u r tiring the muscles of the one leg supporting you. That might play a role, but I can't really explain why I shake when I do.

Hi Robynn,Would you call it a positional tremor?? Its in both of your legs right. When all of your weight is on them. Hmm. My guess is that it is NOT muscle fatigue, since I think your legs would also start to burn and fill with lactic acid and then finally you would just have to get off of them to stop the discomfort. I have what you describe in my arms, my upper body, sometimes I quake like an aspen tree in the breeze. I am sorry this thing in particular bothers you.Your friend, JoggingCub

Hey Chris, I really should have added that I suppose, they do start to burn somewhat, mostly from the knees down and yes, when this happens I am usually only thinking about just hurrying up so I can sit back down. But even if it is muscle fatigue, that doesnt necessarily mean anything bad does it?? And yes this only happens when standing in one spot and putting all my wieght more on one leg, I tend to find my self shifting my weight when I'm in the shower from one leg to the other to stop some of the shakiness. When I'm standing there drying off, I just watch my knees and lower legs shake, I hate it. It screams weakness to me, but I know that there is no clinical weakness and use that to comfort myself. Thanks Johnny and Chris for responding, any suggestions or more opinions are welcome :D) Robynn :D)

Try moving them more instead of less - if it is positional you should be able to find a movement or position that will make it stop. Flex your knees up to your chest a few times, stretch the calves, tense the thighs, rotate your legs in the hip joint outward and hold them, then inward and hold them. See what works - usually I can find a position that will make it stop and it hurts nothing to give it a try.

Thanks I'mOK, I can find certain positions that make it stop, but the burning muscles pain does not stop until I just sit back down and let them rest up again. Its kind of like the burning you get when you have over worked a muscle or done a bunch of squats or something like that. It just doesnt stop till I sit back down. But I'm tired of sitting, I got an eliptical for Christmas, and I enjoy using that, so I will continue and maybe I'll get lucky and it will just fade away like some of the other symptoms. Thanks again everyoneRobynn :D)

The muscle fatigue is the worst symptom for me at the minute. Even typing this I feel like my right arm is so heavy from the shoulders down. My legs hurt like hell after just a couple of minutes walking and even standing to do the washing up makes them hurt......I really can sympathise. Any activity for me causes my muscles to tire really easily then hurt.....and the burning in my feet, hands, legs..arrrghhh

Thanks Angus, I thought about asking you about this one, but I've asked you alot here lately, LOLYes the pain sux and then and the shaking that comes with it just makes it suck worse. :( Johnny, It doesnt just happen when I'm in the shower, I just think it happens more there because thats about the only time I am standing in one place. when I get up to do anything else, I do what I got to do then sit back down before it starts.I'm really hating this stuff rite now.

Hi ROBYNN,i will say it is due to d increcreased amount of pressure causing muscle fatigue hence tremors/shakiness[like any other tremor seen in bfs].U should absolutely neednot worry about it,promise.I do get them but in low intensity.Certain symptoms of bfs vary from person to person but they r totally harmless[benign].You dont care them, they will go for sure someday. Please take care.Your friend.................baliy.

Thank you so much baily, I really appreciate you taking the time to reassure me. And yes I'm keeping my hopes up that one day this will be gone, I want my legs back :D) Thanks again :D) Your friendRobynn :D)

I haven't had so much the trembling legs (yet!), although my right arm has trembled on/off. I do get muscle fatigue in my legs and calves since this began. I definitely notice that when I am on my feet more, I get more pains in my legs that night. I know how scary it is, and you have been dealing with this longer than me. I also understand the frustrations and wanting your legs back! I really think you are ok and it is just part of this whole thing. I am sure you have had this all checked when you first started, but are you any chance anemic? Definitely NOT saying that this is the cause of all this, but I know it can make things worse. Hope this symptom passes soon for you!

Well, I guess i don't really have any more tips to help with the problem. Maybe if you worked out like mad and became a body builder, then that would help? lol Okay probably not. What I will say is that I wouldn't be worried about it. As you know, many of us get the trembling in one area or another, or multiple areas. You are just "lucky" enough to get it when you are standing!
