Hi,For over a week now I'm suffering from severe muscle pain in my arm (forearm, bicep, tricep) and shoulder. I'm very worried this could be part of ALS, maybe from weakness? I seem to twitch more in that arm and shoulderAnyone has an idea on what this can be?

like being ripped apart, really painfull shoulder and arm . It's constant, it doesn't go away. I have to put flexium spray and take pain killers to stand the painThis is ALS isn't it?

I DEFINITELY dit not hurt my arm or shoulder, it's really sharp pain in my forearm, bicep and shoulder. You just can't dismiss this as nothing, but I don't find other answers than ALS. I have to take pain killers to stand the pain

Just to throw out another possibility--fibromyalgia. I know lots of people don't believe in the dx but there sure are a lot of people complaining of unexplained muscle pain without ALS. People dx with this condition also complain of twitching. Don't jump to conclusions (I know it is easier said than done). Focus on the fact that many people have unexplained symptoms. Not everything about the body is fully understood. Maybe one day it will be. I have been told that "I may have my own unique condition" from a expert who has seen many atypical cases of everything neurologically speaking. When he said that I didn't know what to make of it. He also said "I don't see you ever becoming disabled" but I just don't know exactly what you have." Uncertainty is hard to deal with but time passing and focusing on just feeling better and living the best you can does help.Krackersones

Sigh. I don't know why I'm bothering, but here goes...If you have such severe pain that you are requiring frequent pain meds, you need to get an xray and/or an mri. Seriously, I wouldn't just jump to the conclusion that this is BCFS related pain, even though that can also be intense. I hate to waste my breath, because you'll come back with all of your usual idiotic exceptions to the most common clinical presentations of **S, but let's try this ridiculousness AGAIN. **S is not characterized by PAIN. **S typically causes WEAKNESS before ANYTHING ELSE. If you want to believe you are the exception to the rule, I really wish you would stop posting here. There are folks who actually NEED help who are willing to listen to REASON and actually find relief here. You've torn or sprained or overused the shoulder, a muscle, or maybe even gotten a hairline fracture of some kind. Whatever it is, don't ignore it, it needs to get checked out so you can have the appropriate treatment. Honestly, it's probably from googling too much and having improper posture. Blessings, Sue
