Hello everyoneLast week I got a severe allergic reaction to peanuts that caused rashes to appear I was prescribed steroids and all my bus symptom including twitching has gone I just wanted to share it with you as a possible cure. Please share your input. Can my neurologist prescribe it for bus condition ? Just to add once I stopped steroids , bfs came up again but I felt soon good while on steroid

One of the elements of steroid action is stabilization of cell membranes and increased sodium holdup. Becasue one of the suggested mecahnism of our disroder is damage casued to the myocites membranes (probably by our owm complement system) and certain disruption in sodium channels operation, it might be an explanation then.however, our twitches are local and do not casue bad consequences, but constant taking of steroids to stop twitching may have really deteriorating ones. So I probably would not look for steroids as a good treatment for BFS.

From the Mayo Clinic: Corticosteroids also suppress your immune system, which can help control conditions in which your immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues. Essentially steroids are used in allergic reactions because they help suppress the immune response. If your BFS symptoms all went down or away with the immune suppression it likely means your BFS is autoimmune, as mine was. This also means that you would likely benefit from some diet modification, especially the removal of gluten. Gluten intolerance and autoimmunity seem to go hand in hand. Long term steroid usage is not the answer even though it may have provided some temporary relief. Long term you will probably want to see a doctor who knows about leaky gut syndrome and can test for it and treat it if need be. Autoimmune conditions are usually so tied to the gut because the immune system is over 70% rooted in the gut.

Yes I already mentioned that but when I took one dose of steroids for an infection my twitching disappeared for two daysBut not sure if this was not a coincidence or how this is a cure ?

Anecdotal experiences like the one I am about to write about are notoriously unreliable, but anyway... ;) ...This is interesting because my BFS was coincident with suddenly developing much stronger reactions to insect bites. I live in the countryside and spend a lot of time outdoors so have always had plenty of bee stings, horse fly bites etc. These have never caused much of a problem but I suddenly developed much stronger reactions where a single bite would cause my whole arm to swell up. At the same time I developed inflammatory skin problems that require steroidal creams.Just saying!GlowGreen

Gut leak syndrome. Sounds interesting. What doctor does that kind of job and if it is my case you mentioned diet is useful what are the things I need to stay away from and what are those that will help me. Is there a blood work to test for it ?
