Seeking Relief from Back Pain

Hey there:I haven't posted in a little bit. I am experiencing terrible back pain lately. I've been seeing a chiropractor but it's only offering temporary relief. I have two different kinds of pain: one on the mid-to-upper right side, which is just a bad ache that radiates around my ribs to my side and front. The other is on my left, a little lower that happens when I twist. It is a much sharper pain that feels as if my back is going to splinter apart.Millions upon millions of people have back pain, but I've also had a flare up of my BFS symptoms lately - twitching thumbs, tingling face - so I'm wondering if anyone else thinks it could be a BFS thing? Of course, it could be that I'm carrying around a 25 lb toddler who refuses to start walking yet. :)Joanne

Hi there!I just wanted to say that carrying around your heavy toddler could most definitely cause you pain. When I was carrying around my toddler I had pain in my sides so bad that I thought I was dying. I went to the Dr and found out that it was just sore muscles from carrying him around. Good luck and get that baby walking soon! :D)

Hm. I have to go with carrying around your toddler. When you pick him/her up do you just bend down, or do you bend your knees, get your upper body level with the toddler, put him/her in your arms and then stand up?You do not want to bend your back when picking up 25 lbs.I had back surgery, but my understanding is 90% of back pain goes away given enough time; but enough time may be a year.Hope this helps.-43RichyThe43rd

As you said back pain is very common. The reason why you're having a flare up of your BFS symptoms may be because your body is under stress due to back pain so your nervous system is reacting. I occassionally suffer from back pain as well, and what helps me is the trigger point massage. See if you can get your husband or someone to massage your back and find points that are really painful. These are trigger points that you should massage around 10 times per day by stoking them 6-12 times.

When my kids were little by back and shoulders were always hurting (more than usual)! I frequently went to the chiropractor and still do. My neck would hurt so much that I could barely turn around from the front seat of my car and check on my kids in their carseats! They're now 27 & 29 and my back still has pain on and off but not as frequently as when I was carrying them around. Take care, Denise. p.s. I had BFS prior to having kids.
