Seeking Reassurance About Calf & Twitches

I know this type of question has been posted numerous times but I´d really appreciate some input and reassurance.I´ve been dealing with my 24/7 calf and random twitches for 3,5 months now, with occational hotspots (arm, shoulder, back...) It´s the sensory stuff that usually freaks me out the most (burning, numbness, stiffness) but last night I woke up and the back of my thigh and knee were twitching like crazy. I have never had violent twitches like that before. My whole leg was jerking and hasn´t stopped yet. Everytime I sit or lie down it starts. Since this is the same leg with the 24/7 calf twitching I´m worried now that whatever it is might be moving up and mark the beginning of the end. Help. Anyone?

That is not uncommon here, do not worry. Try isometric contraction of affected muscles - push against resistance but without changing the muscle lenght (ie. with thumb muscle it means to hold it with the other hand and press against it). It could help.

It is BFS doings it's best to p*ss you off. It will pass. They always pass. Take a breath and try and settle. The anxiety will not be helping.Rodger

Glad some people on the other side of the globe are up already :) Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it!!!!

in the beginning i frequently woke up because of those violent twitches, usually my right thigh or knee (few time biceps) was twitching so hard that i could not go to sleep again...i know that those twitches are very scary, i remember one night i sat in the kitchen and cried..just remember you are not alone with this, and- it will pass! sooner or later it´ll be gone!!

You know how many hotspots I have had over the past 21 months? Thousands! Thumping in my knees that lasted for weeks. Thumps in my back, calves, ribs, butt, neck, face, scalp and don't forget my feet. They never stop not ever. I am not scared anymore but it took me a long time to get here. You will get there too. It just takes time.

This past summer I developed a non stop "hot spot" in my right shoulder. My calves and feet had been and still do twitch non stop, but everywhere else was random and never repeated over any length of time. However, this hot spot continued for more than a month and those (your) dark thoughts came creeping in. Then, just like that, it went away and has only twitched a couple of times since then (and no loss of strength - a major key), so try not to worry about it. The BFS just picked a larger muscle to torment for you for a while.

As weird and scary as your new twitches are, they are no need to worry. Your twitches are surely BFS and have been experienced by many of us, many times over. I have many of the same twitches as you described except my "thumpers" usually occur in my bicep. It seems the whole muscle will twitch from time to time and needless to say it will grab my attention.
