Seeking Nuerologist Advice: 6 Weeks of Fasciculations

I have had bi-lateral fasciculations for six weeks and have since seen a nuerologist. I have had an emg, two blood work-ups an examination involving electrical stimulus (sorry forgot the name) and an MRI. All have come back fine. I met with the Nuerologist yesterday and he said he believes my condition may be benign but for piece of mind recommends that i see a nuero that specializes in ALS, which totally freaked me out. I have experienced no muscle weakness, only cramping. Should i be comforted in knowing that my emg came back fine or shuold i be freaking out?

Greetings:He is sending you there solely for peace of mind, you do not need to go otherwise. No weakeness and normal EMG = No ALSWelcome to the group!JJ

Don't freak out - you sound like the rest of us here - poor bedraggled bunch that we are. Good that all your results came back fine though. He's probably just sending you on so you won't have more questions later and discount that diagnosis entirely - unless he's related to the other guy ;) It never does hurt to have a second opinion though. Make your list of questions for the guy so you can dispel lurking suspicions. We do know however, that your symptoms seem a lot like some of mine and many others here. I've had this for years and it has not turned into anything else more deadly. I don't know why the neuros do that (introduce the als suspicion on their patients) - they must be emotionally out of touch or something.
