Hi, I am new to this and looking for advice / help from people who may know more about what is happening to me. A little history first; I am 43 years old, 2 years ago I lost feeling in my right leg, docs said sciatica and after 4 months all was well since then I've the odd bout of cramp in my rt calf.
Last Sunday I did a 48 mile bike ride and felt fine, however, on Monday my calf started contineous mild twitching which can be seen when looking at it and hasn't stopped since. Also my right tricep is twitching 5-10 times per hour and every now and then I get a twich in other areas. I also have a numb feeling above my left knee and on the left side of my forehead.
I visited my GP on Friday who didn't give any advice or help and told me that she is refering me to see a neurologist but this may take 2-3 weeks!

After looking up symptoms on google (not a good idea!) I am now unable to sleep or do anything because of the fear that I may have ALS.

Any of you well informed people out there able to give advice?

Dear Pete, I think als is so unlikely. It is just a petty you googled!

If you don't want to wait to see the neuro, why not go an see a chiropractor, it sounds like perhaps some of your problems could be mechanical. Chiroprators in the UK are primary care practitioners and are qualified to make a diagnosis. Chiropractors are particularly good at evaluating you nervous system and if you wouuld like, I can give you some names and telephone numbers of chiropractors in your area. Let me know and I will PM you.

Thank you all for your replies, I do feel a little better especially as yesterday I had a few twitches in my upper left back showing that the twitching is not localised to my right side.
I am still terrified and unable to eat normally but I suppose time will help with this.
Thanks again for the support.

I'm watching a new twitch right now in my forearm that is very visual. It is always freaky for me when I twitch in a new place. I thing the buzzing in my foot that felt like a vibrator really wacked me out a month or so ago. :>

Just wanted to let you know they really have great FAQ's here that really helped me out when I first strated noticing regular twitching. here's a link.

It sounds like you're in the club but continue seeing the doc's because that has helped me ease my concerns also.
