Searing Leg Pain While Walking

Hello fellow twichers,I know you usually dont hear from me unless im making snide remarks or being dismissive of other peoples symptoms but...Lately I have noticed some pretty annoying pain(intense searing pain) in my left leg. It is worst when I am walking uphill for a prolonged period of time...then better after rest or going downhill. Somedays I have it, other days I dont. It is the part of the leg that connects the ankle to the calf. You know that long muscle that bulges on the side when you tense...there. Sometimes I can run a couple of km and nothing...then il walk a mile and it burns. What is this... ligament damage? Burning sore ankle-calf disease?I obviously have my full strength and its not actually all that worrying really but I just want to know if anyone has experienced this and beat it down like the dog it is.Anyone relate? any tips?thanking you in advance.DarraghNo animals were hurt in the writing of this post.

I actually have the same thing in both legs. Cannot explain it...somedays better than others. Its the evilness of BFS I believe. Ever changing trying to make us go insane!Shelly

What happens when you stretch it? TryWhen I get this it is usually from over-stretching (foot flexion)or doing repetitive long lunges, stretching usually helps if there is no swelling - ice it if you have swelling. One thing you should look out for is keeping proper alignment in your foot to ankle - a PT could advise on this if it continues. Here's a good explanation of what's going on where you can see how the tendons wrap around - they can easily get slightly out of their groove and cause problems. You could try taping it so they stay in place or walk backwards up those hills. Kidding OK - although that would actually work. LOL it may take a while to get up the hill....IMO we bcfs'ers get more of this kind of stuff - I didn't have so much of this kind of stuff before - and think it is due to tension which causes lack of circulation which causes more tension etc. I know that when I start getting a lot of it I need to meditate more...

Thanks guys,When I do the stretch it hurts, and according to the link I match all the symptoms so I guess I have damaged a ligament.(online self diagnosis...always fun)Il just have to go gentle for a while.Darragh
