Searching for Answers: Tingling Since September

I'm new here, but I've been twitching, tingling, etc. since September. Such a relief to find this site and every time i get panicked about ALS this site calms me down (although I still haven't been to a neuro yet.) My doc. did neuro testing and said I had no weakness at all.
BUT he does think candida could be causing my symptoms. In fact, I collapsed last autumn with a host of problems--extreme gastrointestinal pain, vertigo, exhaustion, and twitching--and not surprisingly, panic attacks. A great doc. diagnosed that I was hypothyroid (which is still not completely under control), and giardia. BUT when he started to treat me for candida the twitches went WILD. Now 3 months later they seem, on nystatin and a very strict diet, to be getting better. But I can't tell if they're getting better because I'm calming down about ALS and MS or from the candida treatment. Any thoughts anyone?
Also does anyone ever get twitching in their throat? That is so scary.

Hey Alice!

I don't know about the candida/twitch relationship, but I know that if you have a screwy thyroid level that it can cause you to twitch, both hypo and hyper...Perhaps if you were to get that under control you would cease or at least decrease the twitching.
Stress, fear, anxiety, which can be used as almost interchangeable terms, will make your twitching worse. I believe that if you were to reduce those factors you would also see a decrese in twitching.
You have been twitching for around 9 months now, with no weakness...that is an excellent sign that it is all benign. I have never been to a neuro either, as the doctor that diagnosed my condition as benign was one that I trusted a lot! She said she saw no need for me to go unless I developed weakness, and which I have never. However the same "what ifs" that scared me several years ago occasionally pop back into my head, esp. with new symptoms, and I always catch myself wondering if I should go and see a neuro just to put my mind at ease. I think if you can afford it and it would save your mental health, go do it.

As far as throat twitching...I bet you will find someone here who has had those. If I have, I have forgotten, but I don't doubt that I have, as I have had them almost everywhere else. I know many people have complained about "tongue twitches", and those are pretty close to one another.

Hope this helps!
Jen
