Searching for Answers: An Online Journey

This morning I was trying to remember how I exactly found this web-site. I guess it must have been constant searching and good luck.

I was curious at how easy it is to find. I went to google, and searched fasiculations, then twitching, then muscle twitching. there was lots of scary stuff...some not as scary, and no AboutBFS.com? Imagine all the needless worrying that could be avioded if this was the first site to pop up on the web?? I wish that there was a way to make it so.

I must admit that after looking at even the description of a few of those sites, I felt that old familiar panic in the gut, even after twitching for almost 2 years now. Anybody else remember how they originally found this site?

I was thinking about the same thing the other day. I remembered that I found out about BFS on wikipedia. I think I was looking up MS and I came across a wikipedia article on it. Somehow that led me to typing in muscle twitching BFS came up as the first possible cause. It actually says on there that the most common cause of persistent muscle twitching is BFS (not **S) So I kept searching on BFS and came across this site. Not 100% sure how that happened though...

I actually just went back to wikipedia and typed in muscle twitching and it does still say that BFS is the most frequent cause.

Here's the link to the page on wikipedia (I know it isnt always the most accurate info but it got me on the right path and says a lot of what is said here)

I was frantically scouring the net for info on "you know what" in desperation, and was reading on some Q&A site called Medi something or other (can't remember the name and there's NO WAY I'm going looking!) which had a load of questions and answers (probably why it was a Q&A site then  ). I found a whole section on twitching and was reading through them when I came upon a post from someone that said "if you have bodywide twitching take a look at " which I did, found this site and was miraculously cured (well, cured of the worry not the twitching!). :) I'd love to find out who posted on that other site just to thank them.

You've got to be careful about because the entries can be edited by anyone—in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the wikipedia entry on BFS were contributed by someone from bfsforum.com.

Perhaps a better source for information is , which is published by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). Their should be comforting because it says that muscle twitching is common, and can be caused by exercise, drug overdose (including caffeine ;)), other drugs (including diuretics and corticosteroids), stress, and, of course, BFS. Lacking weakness or wasting, there's not even a suggestion of more sinister origin. This isn't an opinion from us laymen; this is from the foremost health research organization in the US. They suggest talking to a doctor, which most of us have done, if the twitches are prolonged or persistent.

I highly recommend reading the page if you're concerned about muscle twitches. It's always good to read something from "real" doctors rather than people like us who are just trying to make everyone feel less anxious :).
