Scared of Left Arm Pain & Weakness

Hi - I'm scared today. I've been having pain in my left arm which my GP thinks is a pinched nerve. Today I saw a physiatrist (sp?) who saw weakness in the upper arm. I'm freaking out and trying to be calm.I've been a twitcher for many years but without any weakness. today scared me. I know that a pinched nerve can cause weakness or shoulder problems can do it as well. The pain travels down the arm and i can't sleep on my side. I keep trying to remember that pain is not a symptom and that twitching can accompany disc problems.I have many tests in the next weeks but am just terrified. Now checking all over.thanks for any support.

my firend, you think absolutely correctly about your condition. You have strong pain which may really suggest physical neural trauma. Neural trauma means a bit of muscular weakness (that is why people with pinched nerves limp or can not move hands properly). Moreover, pain might prevent you from using hand as much as normally so you really may have some weakness in it, as if it was in a cast.Do not worry so much please, get your tests and treatment and all this would go away as a bad dream.

But that is in line with physical neural trauma, not with MND. Please remember that in MND (not only ALS) central brain motoneurons are affcted too, which is clearly seen on EMG and in clinical evaluation.Take care about your hand, and I wish you soon resolution of your pain.

It's hard when you've been scared of twitching/weakness for so long - and then to be presented with something. Of course now I'm twitching all over and my mouth is weird.
