Scared of ALS: Symptoms & Questions

As stated im scared as hell from ALS and i will post my symtoms/questions here! Been to a regular doctor that checked my reflexes, muscle strength (Not a advanced test, for instance i pushed my hand against his and such). He understood that i was scared of ALS and said i did not have it, anyways he did no advanced tests.Symtoms:* Fasculations (at completely random spots), had those for 4 months now.* A strange feeling in my lower arm/hand, a bit weak, but nothing major. Can this be ALS? (Had this for 3-4 months, without "major" changes)* Also my saliva has improved, maybe just in my thoughts but when i lauch for instance, alot of saliva comes out of my mouth.. annoying...* Some cramping in random muscles all over me, maybe combined with the fasculations.Questions:* Can this be ALS? Im worried as hell and don't want to visit another doctor since i've been there several times and my parents would get crazy.* If i had an annoying feeling in my arm/hand for 3 months, it would probably improve ALOT by 3 months, wouldnt it? (I can handle same weights at the gym)Im scared as hell about ALS and nothing seems to help! Im only 16 years old and know this is very very uncommon in my age but my symtoms won't let me go! :(Thanks in advance for any tips/answers! PS. I dont want to visit a doctor if not necessary DS.Thanks for this great community also, made me abit calmer.

ALS in 16 year olds is not rare, it is unheard of. Basic strength tests are all your doctor needs to do, and with ALS they really are advanced tests, because the main symptom is loss of strength. The medical community really does not have much for answers when it comes to twitching muscles, it just happens in some, and they do not know why. They do know what ALS is, and you should be very reassured that your doctor is not concerned, and again at 16 years old the odds are way in your favor. Stay off the med sites and try to focus on the positives of your what your doctor has said.

Get a handle on whether the symptoms are really a problem aside from the anxiety. Working out can cause twitching. When I first saw neuros for my twitching they asked if I worked out a lot. If the symptoms are really a problem in that they cause you pain, discomfort, etc then pursue it. If it is just worry that you may have a rare disease, then just realize it's almost certainly not that and move on like you do with all the other things that can go wrong in life that we can't control (like a plane falling out of the sky and hitting you).

You are 16? You dont have ALS. It could perhaps be anxiety...or stress, but whatever it is you do NOT have ALS. Even someone in their early 30s (that would be me) would be on the more rare side.

Thanks for responding on every symptom, really helpful. I just have hard to believe its nothing dangerous! Can't help it.. Im a hypochondriac that worries way to much but still. Saliva improvement can be caused by Thyroid Gland problems? Im 16 and also when im running and such i feel abit strange in my thyroid glands, like it sticks! May this cause my problems? Thanks again!Merry X-mas!!

Buddy, if you are 16, the chances you have *** are less than getting hit by lightining.Pls see a doctor to get yourself together and then move on with your life. The teenage years are times to try differents stuff. Generally your body at that age is healthy. Pls try to enjoy your life. -43RichyThe43rd
