I can deal with the calf twitches and instep twitches (bilateral in both cases, and very common among people here). I can deal with the occasional twitches all over my body - again, a lot of people seem to have those. It's this d*mn ring finger twitching that's getting to me. It'll occasionally twitch on its own, but it'll often (these days, almost always) twitch after exertion (making a fist, curling the finger towards the palm). The muscle twitch is usually in the forearm (finger flexor). What's weird is that it happens after brief exertion, but not after prolonged exertion or repeated brief exertion. Longer period of exertion -> less twitching after exertion. No apparent loss of strength, but it is the ring finger, which isn't too strong to start with.
My first neuro said "I don't know - probably nothing to worry about." EMG in right arm (it's my right finger) was normal, according to him. Recently, the problem got worse (more frequent), so I went to a second neuro who's had more experience (40+ years vs. about 3-4). He diagnosed the twitch as a form of myotonia - delayed muscle relaxation. He thought it was unusual, but wasn't too concerned (more interested in my two siblings with MS, actually). I guess the good news is that it could be related to neuromyotonia, which is a (more serious?) form of BFS, and we don't know exactly why it happens.
Do others have the same symptoms? In particular, the pattern of twitching after brief exertion with decline after longer periods seems odd to me. Does this happen to others? Also, is it normal for this particular manifestation to stay in my finger for months without happening anywhere else on my body? I've had lots of other twitches, but this one seems different, and is the only twitch I'm concerned about.
