Right Foot Feeling Weak and Awkward

Hi Everyone,I've been good for the last couple of but my right foot has been bothering me for about a couple of months now. For some odd reason, my right foot feels weak and heavier than my left, I can still walk long distances with it but it just feels really awkward – like I have to think when I step forward with my right foot or else I might trip or drag my foot. What freaks me out the most about it is that when I walk on my toes, only my right calf gets sore. Also, when I’m walking on hardwood floors, my right foot tends to slip more as if I’m not putting enough pressure. I just walked on my toes and now my right foot/calf feels sore/fatigue and I can feel pins and needles. This is causing me to freak out a bit, any input would be useful. Thanks in advance. Kenny

Helle Kenny, I do not have the slightest clue what this one-foot-thing is all about, but it is very very common on the board, almost as common as the finger stiffness stuff. I have this in my right foot too, it feels weak, gets easily sore afterwalking, get pins and needles and a strange kind of numbish feeling there. And I vera often feel as if I have to concentrate to walk with this foot..it is as strong as my left one, I can perform all strength tests without a problem, and it had even disappeared for a week or so, but unfortunately has come back a few days ago.....and as I said, this seems to be common on the board to have one foot/leg problems. I know that mario, shanny and mommyLDN have it and that there were lots of people mentioning this too (I just forgot who they were, my brain is like that of a granny since this started..)

Thanks Chrissi,This morning my front ankle was very sore when walking into the office and my shin is sore right now. Is this something you experienced with your right foot as well? I did go for a 50 minute cycling class on Monday so it might be sore from that, the only thing that bothers me about this is that it is only affecting my right foot. I can’t shake the idea that this might be due to clinical weakness.

I have twitching only in my right foot, which really bothers me. I'd be happier if both feet were twitching. And, I think my right leg is less strong than my left, but part of me also thinks I'm imagining that because I'm only twitching in my right foot. I get pain in my right foot near the arch as well - not a full out cramp (but I did have a short foot cramp yesterday), but just a dull pain.Mitra

Hi Mitra,The arch of my right foot twitches a lot as well and I don’t know if it’s related to my problems, I also have the dull and aching pain as you described but it does get better once I start walking. I do remember waking up one morning and my right foot was twitching like crazy, it was freaking thinking that I was losing function of my foot.I would like to think that the twitching is causing my foot to become weak and fatigue. Is it possible for twitching to cause the foot to become more fatigue? My right foot has also been bothering from the start of all of this, but I’m noticing the arch of my left foot is also twitching now. I’m going to assume with time, you will also experience this on the left foot.

Thanks a lot dooming me with my left foot to soon start twitching! LOL! Just kidding with you of course.Yeah, I think the same: that the pain may come after so much twitching. It's such a small muscle that it must tire out. And, just like you, no pain, hardly any twitching (sometimes while standing a little) when I am up and about walking around. I imagine that is good sign this isn't anything bad, but more related to wear and tear of the foot along with BFS. Of course, I have to remind myself of this constantly.Last night my right foot was just twitching so hard it was practically moving my toes. And, it would move from one muscle around the arch to the next pretty rapidly. Really freaked me out. It doesn't act that badly every night, but last night was especially bad. It probably is related to how much we walk and stand prior to sitting down and relaxing. Like right at this moment, it's not twitching but it has that kind of dull pain.Don't know if I told you this before, but my chiropractor relates this to my lower back pain. I guess my right side is shorter than my left due to my back being "wound up" and he thinks my arch on my right foot has been impacted because of this. He told me to roll a tennis ball under my arch for 2-3 minutes a day and it should help. I've been doing it but it hasn't helped too much. Then again, it's not debilitating or anything.MitraMitra

It’s funny that you mention your lower back because I’ve been having lower back pain on my right side as well. I don’t know if it’s related to my foot but it is annoying. I guess that’s what I get for sitting and slouching on my desk for 8 hours. It does suck that cause I haven’t hit 30 years old and I’m having so much issues with my back and foot. It’s a bit of relief that a lot of people here have the same complaints about their foot. It’s made walking so nerve wreaking since everything I take a step and feel some sort of pain/soreness, I end up relating it to weakness.

Yes, and if you weren't twitching, you would never think twice about "weakness". I had the same exact thought today. I'm like, "if I weren't twitching would I even notice this foot pain? Or if I did, would I even blink about it". Well, what a coincidence that you have low back pain as well. I totally think they're related. My chiro didn't blink when I showed him where my foot hurt. He said that there is a direction relation between my sacriolic (sp?) joint and my lower back pain to that part of the foot. The other day he said that because I have the low back pain, I have compromised the way I walk on my right side, so it's affecting my arch.I've had low back pain for about 5 years now, in the same area on my right side.Mitra

Thanks Johnny, it makes sense that if I had clinical weakness, I wouldn’t be able to perform normal tasks, however, I am just a bit scared of the fact that maybe my foot is weak and that’s why my leg/ankle/shin is feeling sore since it is compensating for my weak foot. Right now my ankle is in a lot of pain when i walk, I'm scared that might be from my weak foot.
