Right Arm Aching, No Reason

Hi all:I had been feeling a bit better the past few days. Twitches had died down considerably, practically stopped at times. Even now they're reduced, but the are most frequent in my right arm, and that arm is bothering me. The arm doesn't feel weak, but rather it feels achy - maybe like I've worked it out too hard, though I haven't done anything to this arm that I haven't done to my left. When I do push ups or tricep raises, it seems to "feel the burn" sooner than my left, although I can still lift heavier things with my right than with my left (my right is dominant). I may carry my daughter around more with my right arm - I'm not sure (she's about 23 lbs). I do have cubital tunnel syndrome in that arm (nerve is pinched in the elbow, fingers get numb and tingly and forearm/eblow hurt) but my upper arm is also bothering me - again, achy and twitchy. I'm getting quite a few of twitches in my tricep including one huge thumper that came a minute or so ago. I'm still getting random twitches in other areas - until now they were mainly focused on my legs. I am still getting some there - all over the legs - and had one weird one in my jaw earlier, but really they seem to be mainly centered on my arm now. That along with the achiness is completely freaking me out. I'm having some numbness in my pinkie right now so I think also cubital tunnel thing is acting up a bit too. I'm so scared of ***. It may be unreasonable - maybe not but I'm absolutely panicked at the moment. Can anyone reassure me that this is probably BFS? Please?Joanne

Hi Joanne!I often have this feeling that you describe! Sometimes I struggle to lift my arms to shampoo my hair, hang the washing etc. It feels wierd but it is all just part of the BFS syndrome. I can still do everything I should be able to do. It is perceived weakness, not clinical weakness.Lovely to talk to you againSandra

This is not the way ALS would present itself. In almost every case, muscle weakness is noticed before muscle twitching, and the twitching, if it even is noticed does not bounce around as you are describing (all over body at random, then your legs, then your jaw etc). Numbness and tingling is not suggestive of ALS either, I have the same thing in my right arm (cubital tunnel syndrome). If you do not have objective, and progressive muscle weakness in the areas that you twitch (which in your case sounds like your whole body) then you have nothing to be worried about. Come join the club :)

I mostly have twitching in my right ankle, and I also have aches and pain when I walk. I've tested it out the whazoo (before finding this site) though and I can tell you for sure that I don't have any objective weakness in it.I think that pain/aches are just part of BFS.
