I'm going to my pcp to request anxiety meds tomorrow morning, as my neuro cant see me again for my emg until the end of august or first of september. Can you tell me what meds you've tried and what worked?

I liked Lexapro. I was on it for 6 months and had no side effects at all. The only reason I went off was because it was expensive and I felt like I didn't need it anymore.

Wow. So many of us have used the same combination. I really like Lexapro. It immediately helped with the anxiety and I felt like a new person. I really helps.

I agree Barbie. Lexapro is helping lots with the anxiety, by reducing the symptoms, not entirely getting rid of them. Thus is helping me in dealing with the BFS issues. The only thing is, after 7 months I am a little scared to come off it, for fear of all those anxiety issues increasing again, but I think maybe I should ( more the 7 months on it bit rather than anything else- a long time?). That is always the issue, the decision on when to come off these meds. Blee dont you worry about that, dealing with the anxiety is your first priority, the rest will sort it self, as I am sure it will with me at some stage!cheersRodger

Doc put me on ativan, which knocked my butt out for three hours -- so I guess it works because for three hours, I didnt feel a single twitch ;) good sleep!

Valerian Root. Its a natural herb (so no prescription needed) with which I experienced no side effects. Its over the counter at most any natural health food stores. It calms your nerves and does not make you drowsy. It did wonders for my anxiety and toned my symptoms down.

Lexapro worked for me for long term use (around 6 months). No side effects and easy to come off of. Really helped quiet the depression in the early days. I tried valerian root for a month or so and it had no effect whatsover. Klonopin is what I'm on full time for twitch relief and it is also a mild anti-anxiety med so that helps in two ways.
