Relief from MS Worries

Thanks

That's quite reassuring. I was convinced twitches were a symptom of MS. Yes the Pins and Needles do come and go so maybe I should just relax and see what happens.

You're spot on this is an excellent website.

Welcome IB,
Stress plays a big part in many psychosomatic type symptoms, and any neuro-psych will more-than-happily tell you just that.

OTOH, your symptoms can also go along with bfs, and you can certainly have bfs symptoms when you are feeling quite at peace.

I like to tell people that because it used to drive me buggy whenever my neuro would instruct me to just calm down and take my xanax, all the while I was perfectly calm. If I ever took his poison pills, I never felt relief of symptoms, and it only served to frustrate me.

Yes, numbness, tingling, twitching, weird sensations, perceived weakness, tremors, buzzing, cramping, etc, etc, all can be bfs OR some of those symptoms can be anxiety.

The fact that your symptoms have increased would seem to indicate that perhaps it is bfs with some anxiety superimposed, but that would be your call to make, not mine.

I've been ruled out for *S thrice in my lifetime with 4 sets of mri's, lumbar puncture (yuck,) visual and somatosensory evoked potentials, eye exam, hmmmm what else-oh, yeah 2 *S specialists, 3 other neurologists, a rheumie and an endocrine gyn specialist for good measure. All of them had various explanations (all wrong) for what was ailing me. The gyn even gave me amphetamines to help ease my symptoms...that was quite a buzz. I got to legally take drugs that I had to beg, borrow and steal for as a teenager. You should have seen my pharmacist's face.

Finally, I dx'ed myself with bfs and my pcp blessed it after many wasted months.

*S does not present the way you are describing. Trust me, I've been round and round with that nastiness. The *S message boards will tell you otherwise, but don't go there, it will only make you go berserk. It waxes and wanes, yes, but over weeks and months, not minutes and days. You wouldn't get new symptoms upon new symptoms upon new symptoms while others disappear or fade moment by moment, day by day. *S presents focally, not diffusely. The numbness or tingling would be pronounced, the weakness would be obvious, and there would be lingering problems that wouldn't relent until the brain lesions compressing your nervous system started to heal. Your symptoms sound like bfs to me.

I hope this helps...

Blessings and prayers to you...
Sue
