Regularly Lifting Weights and BFS

Yes, I still exercise regularly, but I don't run, I lift weights. I think you will find that you will feel it alot more several days after than before you had BFS. You might want to consider neurontin whichs helps with the pain and cramping.Good Luck!

i'm sorry to hear about your situation. i have the exact same problem. i was a mtn bike racer/ long distance runner and was rushed to the e.r. a year and a half ago with a severe electrolyte imbalance after a long ride. i was cramping everywhere, vomiting and had diarrhea. i have not recovered. witches, cramping, rubbery legs, etc. numerous tests have been done and the diagnosis is bcfs. the symptoms wax and wane. were your conditions brought on by a similar occurrence or did they just arise out of more benign circumstances?

Sounds similar, but I did not have any e-lyte imbalance......everything was normal, and still is.... :)

I was "over" training..... did two duathlons and a few 10Ks in just 4 months, plus all the training before hand. Doc said I over did it...... but couldn't explain the FASICS....Thought I was dying.......

LESSON: MODERATION

I had lost over 50LBS (from 225 to 175)......over a year to exercise and diet. I'm back to 195....fell better.....Cholesterol, Sugar, and Blood Pressure Normal....I see ALOT of people (DAILY) with theses problems.....

Stress played another part.....

I SPINN and play racquetball still.....Running less since the 1/2 Marathon. I'll pick up later. I can recover better these days, but I'm 39 and not getting younger......12 years of Football doesn't help either I suppose

Hey.....just live your life.....I have a quadraplegic who is here for an exam....car accident......

JUST LIVE......Have FUN.......we only get one....

Neurotin and Flexeril help very much......

GOOD LUCK

thanks for the info. you would not believe how many people over the last year i've come into contact with whose symptoms arose out of our same context. some went from riding 400 miles a week to having trouble walking a mile. the body is indeed a strange thing.
neurontin and flexeril.....i've tried tegretol and dilantin with no relief. neuro doesn't think neurontin would work for my bcfs but he's willing to try anything. is flexeril a muscle relaxant?

yes....

The hardest "thing" is how to fine a MODERATE routine......

I was riding over 100 miles a week.....

I believe it was a culmination of alot of things.....is there something pathological-----all the MDs say "NO".....under the RADAR.....

COMPLETE REST was NEVER advised to me.......just cut back, carb load and hydrate....I once took 9 days off and it about killed me.....I went nuts not doing anything......I took 5 days off last week and I had pain from doing nothing....which tells me to do "something"....

You are right......the body is a funny thing.....

I only found about TWO people that have mentioned BFS in the literature with exercise...not much as far as published research on FASCICULATION induced by extreem exercise. I know someone who does ULTRAS, who never heard of anything like this, however I have read about a Triathlete who, if dehydrated, experiences fasciculations.......and hear say that may Marathon runners who BONK have complete body fasciculations.

Don't know....but to those of us who are obsessive, it just drives us into health anxiety and drives our loved ones NUTS.....

Hell, my wife was sitting on the couch last night and said her calf was twitching, and just shook her head at me.......
;)
