Regular Tongue Twitching Scare

Are there regular tongue twitchers out there? I've been getting them a bit more regularly in the past week and it has me scared.

I also get a feeling of burning on my tongue. I also was very aware of speech patterns this past weekend...ah!!
I had mouth things a number of years ago and they have come and gone in the past but this is lasting longer and has me quite spooked.

Along with all this was some major arm twitching...

I really wonder if the heightened body awareness just increases it all.

Take care.

I'd say that I get somewhat regular tongue twitches that usually occur a couple of times per day. They definitely had me scared when they started a couple of months ago, but I've gotten used to them now. I definitely think it is by far the most uncomfortable place to twitch.

I would also very much agree with you that the heightened body awareness has a major effect on symptoms.

Hi,
My tongue and throat twitch regularly also. Sometimes for days on end. It is definitey the most frustrating place to twitch I found so far. I'll bet those who have problems with twitching in their ears find that pretty frustrating too.

Hey C,

I have had one tongue twitch that I can remember, and that one alone had me freaked! So I kinda understand where you are coming from. But with BFS, have muscle, will twitch! I think with BFS there is a heightened sense of body awareness....as your body is always twitching it's hard to ignore it. It's kinda like having a little kid grabbing on to your skirt and always tugging on it, wanting attention. Only with BFS you don't have nap time to look forward to. There is a Psych term for this phonomena, and it is calleed "somatization". You concentrate so much on one part of your body that you become convinced there is something wrong with it. I am the queen of this and am there for VERY familiar with it. It's a form of hypochondria. I couldn't begin to list all the times I have thought I was a goner for sure, only to find out it was either anxiety causing my problem or it was a totally natural occurence I had never noticed. I get that with the speech thing from time to time as well. But I think a lot of it has to do with being tired or lacking sleep. Or it could be that you may be grinding your teeth at night. That makes your whole jaw and mouth tired and you can begin to slur words. Does your jaw hurt?

I'm sure you'll be fine. Try to do something to take your mind off of it and relax.
Peace, Jen
