Reassurance for Twitching Symptoms

It is a fact that twitching with no atrophy or weakness is not consistant with als. Your symptoms sound exactly like most of ours. Whatever the trigger was, stress can worsen bfs twitches. In als twitches don't come and go or wax and wane. I think you will be fine, just keep reading posts for reasurance and hang in there!

Thanks to both of you for your kind responses. I will definitely check into the insurance coverage thing (ironically, I work in insurance myself - life not health, so I had never heard of this).

I live in northern Florida, and we have been hit by two hurricanes within the past four weeks. This weekend's was the worst, but thankfully we didn't have too much damage, just tropical storm caliber weather. We've been without power for the past few days, so my apologies for the delay in responding.

Thanks again!

Yes, all consistent with bfs. If I use my hand to lift something heavy, sometimes this triggers a finger to move and twitch. Same with using a muscle or sneezing, etc.

I noticed my twitching just like you did - all became worse after my initial internet search of the symptom "muscle twitch". I then became convinced I had to get life insurance to pay off our mortgage so my husband could stay home and raise my kids in the event I had a dreadful illness. After filing for the life insurance but before I got it, I broke down crying, confiding in a friend who convinced me that I was okay and basically ordered me to the doctor. This began the process of believing I was okay, and just had BFS (in my case, I saw an internist, a local neuro and a UCSF ALS specialist all who diagnosed BFS).

The long and the short of this is that what you have sounds EXACTLY like what I have and I have the official diagnosis of BFS. Go to the doctor. Put your mind at ease. You will be diagnosed with a benign condition and the pre existing thing won't even be an issue, but your peace of mind will go a long way.
