I read the MedHelp post you're referring to. Sure, the doctor didn't say "relax, it's nothing". Instead, s/he said that an EMG would be prudent (many on here have said the same thing), and that a clean EMG, as the poster mentioned, pretty much rules out ALS. S/he mentioned benign fasiculations, and said that the vast majority of the time twitches are benign. S/he also said that weakness and atrophy are the things to watch out for.
So, no specific reassurance, but a repetition of the facts that everyone here knows: ALS is a disease of weakness and atrophy, and twitching is a secondary symptom present in many otherwise healthy people.
Ginny, you're fine—that one MedHelp post couldn't have changed your own condition, and you know that you don't have a serious illness. Have faith in that.
