Quitting Smoking and BFS

Hello all,
I've had BFS for 7 months and I am a smoker - I know, I know - bad news. After I have my first cigarette in the morning (about a half hour after I wake up), I will shake like crazy for about 10 minutes. Legs, hands, fingers - seems like the whole body will go mad sometimes and it can actually ramp my anxiety up to 10 at times. I am down to only one cup of (decaf) coffee a day now and I have it at the same time as my first cigarette in the morning and I don't think the coffee is causing it. The shaking seems to stop about 10 minutes later.

Does this sound familiar to any other smokers out there? When I smoke later in the day, it doesn't seem to bother me half as much - it's just that first one in the morning that is unbelievable. I'm down from a pack a day (25 in a pack here in Canada) to about 12 a day now - this is certainly the best incentive I've ever had to quit.

I'm just wondering if anyone else gets the same feeling with smoking and having BFS?

Thanks very much,
God Bless, Mark

Thanks Jenn, I think it could very well be nervousness waiting for something to happen as things do seem to happen a little more in the mornings for some us with BFS. I do notice though, that sometimes after having a cigarette, I'll get an extra twitch somewhere - seems like my face is becoming a hotspot now - lips, chin, even my tongue a bit.

This morning wasn't actually all that bad - I said to myself that I won't let it get to me and it didn't really affect me as much so I think you're right about thinking something is going to happen. Guess I'll have to get over it somehow.

Thanks again,
God Bless, Mark

Dude. If I drink coffee I better be running a marathon because I get JUUUUMPY! - even tea.

I feel and look NUTS - my eyes dart around, I cant stop moving, and I get a little paranoid.

Coffee = BAD for Jeff

I smoke and I do not get this. But I can totally understand why this will happen to you. Putting bad stuff in your body could cause crazy thing like this. Does this happen to you if you don't smoke? If not, then I see a pattern here and that the shaking is directly attributed to your smoking.

Get this, I was actually on this complete health kick about a month before my symptoms began where I had cut way down on coffee, had been excercising a lot, and had quit smoking completely. The reason that I had done this was that I had been having some bad chest pains, etc. and was trying to get healthy.

Really burns me that this stuff all started when I was trying to live cleanly! Oh well, I'll get over it if it's not ***!

I started smoking again in my *** panic and am still going strong. I'm getting very sick of it and hope to find the will to kick again soon. I hate having health problems so much that I really should try to take the best care of myself possible.

I haven't noticed any symptoms increasing or decreasing in relation to smoking other than that.

Good luck!
Jonathan
