Question About Twitching

Hello everyone. I apologize if this question has already been asked. I have been twitching all over for the past 3 months. I get every kind of twitch. I've had a clinical neuro exam which showed brisk reflexes but everything else was normal. I had a clear MRI of my brain/ cervical spine, and a clear EMG although it detected fasciculations in my calves. My Neuro says that "the tests were reassuring". "ALS is unlikely at this point and it's looking more like BFS" but I'll need to come back in 3 months for a follow up. So my question is, how long does it take to be officially diagnosed with BFS? I should have asked this in the office. It's like he gave me the all clear... for now, but let's wait and see if anything develops.

unfortunately some neuro's like to move more slowly than others....based on what you posted, my neuro would have already said BFS, but others like to take a wait and see approach. it has been my experience that the more specialized the neuro, the more likely they are to rule out the serious stuff quickly. that is, I believe, because they are very familiar with the nasties and can spot them easily. I know that i didn't actually answer your question, but you should find comfort in the findings of your exams.take care,Gary

No weakness + 3 months of twitching + clean emg = don't worry about ALS. Or at least, worry about something that's far more likely to happen.

For me it was when when me ,myself, I decided it was BFS...about 2-3 months. At the end of the day, you will decide how long it takes to make that diagnosis.. no one else can do that for you...cheersRodger

My neuro diagnosed me with bfs after 3 months of twitching all over...clean emg..no ALS your good get on with your twitchy life  ....I think your neuro was just being over cautious....I'm sure your ok
