Prescribed Medication - Any Experiences?

Has anybody used this drug? My doctor recently prescribed it for me. He suggested that I take it for 2 weeks to see if my symptoms improve. If they don't I am suppose to start taking Doxycycline. The Doxycyline is an antibiotic for Lyme's disease. I have tested negative for Lyme's but based on my symptoms he will treat me for it anyway.Has anyone been prescribed either of these two medications?If so, what was your experience?CDC
 
Your Dr sounds pretty smart. If you have Lyme type symptoms you should get teated. Sounds like his is fishing in a positive way.
 
Is it okay to take the meds even though you tested negative for Lyme's? I do understand that it is a difficult disease to test for, however, the current tests are supposedly more accurate.CDC
 
WHAT TYPE OF TEST AND BY WHOM DID YOU TAKE (LAB ).AN ELISA OR A WESTERN BLOT? THE CDC CRITERIA FOR A POSITIVE LYME TEST IS OUTDATED ( 1993 ) AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE LYME THAT TEST NEG. REMEMBER THAT THE CDC REQUIRES 5 POSITIVE BANDS ON A WESTERN BLOT. POST YOUT TESTS RESULTS PLEASE
 
The Lyme's test was requested by my Neurologist. He was conducted in the lab. They tested for IGG with reflex and IGM......is this the information you were aksing for?CDC
 
cdc.Which Lyme test did they do? Sounds like a western blot Post the results including ranges of the results. It will have a list of " bands " by number , post those. If you do not have them ask for them. Be Pro Active and keep a chart with all your tests and results
 
Hello,I, too, have been suspected for Lyme disease. My Wester Blot was CDC "negative" however it did reveal two bands: IgM 41IgG 31Does anyone know how to interrept this? I was told it shows possible LD exposure, but not necessarily Lyme Disease? Although I sure do have the symptoms!Thanks for any input you can provide!
 
band 41 is not Lyme specific but indicative. It is the " tail " of the spirochette. Band 31 is specific. That is the band they made Lymerix from. That had too be taken off the market. Band 31 indicates a more long standing infection. The stupid CDC does not include Band 31 due to the fact that the Vaccine was made from it. They were afraid they would get too many Positives from that band . You need 5 bands too be CDC positive. So you could have 4 and the fifth be band 31 and the test would say Negative. retatrded !!
 
Well this is what I would do. ( I am NOT a DR ) I would treat for 4 to 6 weeks Doxy. Go off for a week and then take a Igenex lab western blot . Google Igenex. You get a kit, need a prescription from your Dr. takes about 10 days to two weeks. they will give you a very detailed report including ALL the bands. Take that info and go from there
 
I am off to the Neuro today and I will request the list of bands, ranges and results. I left 2 messages for his nurse over the past couple of weeks but my call was never returned. Today, hopefully, I will have the specific info.CDC
 
I saw my neurologist today. He indicated that I was tested for the lyme antibodies. That test came up negative and therefore they did not administer the Western Blot test. He urged me not to take the Doxycyline because I've tested negative for Lyme's. So I remain just as confused and frustrated as I've always been with these goofy symmptoms that won't go away.
 
If you haven't tested positive for Lyme, I'd be wary of taking antibiotics. They CAN cause an array of side-effects. Doxycycline in particular causes photo-sensitivity, and when I took it years ago (for unrelated to BFS matter) I turned out to be allergic to it.In saying that, not everyone IS alergic so if you must take Doxycycline do make sure you take probiotics at the same time as antibiotics kill the beneficial bacteria in your gut too and can cause candida overgrowth.
 
I've chosen not to take it. The only meds I am taking is Clonzepam. I take .25mg at night. Only when my body is buzzing all over. It appears to be helping some.CDC
