Prayers Needed: ALS Suspected

Hi there ,Maybe some of you know my older posts...more than twitchesTwo years of symptoms 19 month of twitches.i went to the ER because of paralysis lasting a few minutes. They kept me here...then i saw the suspected dx: als...can you imagine that this is one of my hardest days...I have pai there were the paralysis was...since a longer time. Shin splints.please keep yor tingers crossed. I do 't want to bd the next one...

Try to relax. Periodic paralysis is a well-known disorder that has different causes but I don't see als being one of them. I have never heard of periodic paralysis being a presenting symptom. Moreover, the rare diseases clinic told you they had a brainstorming session and concluded possible MS. I would trust that over a quick initial triage assessment at the ER. Unless they did a clinical and emg by neuro then I don't know how they would even suspect als due to periodic paralysis.Hang in there.

by the way. i keep seeing potassium abnormalities being associated with periodic paralysis. ask them to check your potassium levels if that hasn't already been done.
