Power Over Fear: Reducing Stress and Worry

Stress and worry have been provably linked to disease and illness. Stress and worry are born of fear. Many people know this but are too preoccupied with negativity to make a change in their lives for the better. Why? In each moment that passes we have an opportunity to make a change, yet many choose to believe that they don't have that power. It’s just as easy to say 'I can' as it is to say 'I can't.' So why not choose to take the high road? If you're on this forum you know exactly where the low road leads you. Even if you've lived your whole life saying 'I can't,' there is nothing stopping you from now choosing to say 'I can.' Changing the way you manage stress and face your fears is not a quick process, but the direction you are headed can always change in an instant. All it takes is a decision and a commitment. From that moment on just take things one step at a time and always remember to say 'I can do this.' If negativity has the power to bring you to where you are now, just think of the amazing power that positive can have on your life. From where I am now the view is indescribably beautiful. I write this post to reach out to those of you on the bottom rung of the emotional ladder. No one can push or pull you up, but we can encourage you along the way and remind you that the power to change is and always has been yours. Surround yourself with inspiration. Train yourself to look at the silver lining in every situation. Train yourself to realize when you are thinking, talking, or acting negative. No matter how small, every negative thing you do, say, feel, or experience will impact you. The same applies to positive, so why not try it out? The choice is yours...

I totally agree! I've decided to take all the time and energy it took for me to be negative and to obsess over my muscle twitching and have turned it into something more positive....and guess what....my twitching has almost ceased! I believe the mind is a very powerful thing and we will believe almost anything if we let ourselves too. Seriously, live your life as if you are fine because YOU ARE FINE! Logan

like "the dude" says in "The Big Lebowski" ----- "That's a great plan, Walter. That's *beep*' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. It's a Swiss *beep*' watch. " Seriously, though, I agree. I need to chill.

SAM,You're so inspirational as always. Thanks for having these posts that address so much of our root problem of anxiety. This is something I'm going to try to remember and always think of when anxiety hits.Mitra
