Post Nasal Drip as Early ALS Symptom?

ok, i was reading some past posts and came across one that said increased post nasal secretions (i guesss that means postnasal drip) was an early symptom of bulbar onset!?!!? is that right!??

now i am totally freaked because i have that lump in my throat feeling and feel at times like bits of food aren't going all the way down the first time, but was calming myself by attributing it to the fact that i have postnasal drip going on. no problems chewing or slurred speech, but i do get this tingling feeling on different parts of my tongue several times a day. also have bit of raspy voice that i was TRYING to attribute to drip as well. now i am freaking out! wish i had never read that post!!!!!

also have acid reflux feeling. burping all the time. is that a symptom of ***? no WAY am i going to that site to check!!!!

also this started with body wide fasics for me (had clean emg of limbs 3 wks in but did not test throat or face) is it true that bulbar onset would not start with body wide twitching? can i reassure myself this way?

First of all, increased post-nasal secretion (drip) is not a symptom of bulbar A/L/S, as far as I'm aware. Second, increased post-nasal secretion is a symptom of allergies. It's spring, and that means allergy season. Since allergies are typically an auto-immune response, they can trigger more twitchiness in addition to throat irritation and other ENT symptoms.

BTW, increased salivation is also not a bulbar A/L/S symptom. Inability to swallow saliva can be a symptom, but I don't think you had that problem.
