I can say this with experience, SSRI meds take a couple of weeks before they begin working, and during those first few weeks, most people experience an intense increase in twitching, jolts, shakes and general groggyness. You have to be careful with SSRI's. They are designed for the long haul, not as short term remedies like benzo meds are designed for. If you want to try some temporary meds that have been known to help calm you down, decrease anxiety and stress levels, as well as decrease BFS symptoms (simply because you are less anxious and tense), then ask your doctor about trying a benzo med, such as Ativan, Xanax or Klonopin. They work fast (within a half hour) and most only last 3-6 hours, so if you don't like it, you don't have to wait it out for days on-end like SSRI's.
