Perpetual Fasciculations -- Anxiety Lurking

This crap follows me....i have permanent fascics in the left foot, in both calves and both thighs. They settled down in the lower bodypart, including a purring-cat-like feeling in both legs that comes and goes. And now I have permanent fascics in the lower back, only on the left side for 10 days already. they are not fast but maybe a jump every 2-3 seconds or so....drives me insane and anxious as i have read somewhere that als-fascics are slower than bfs-ones......anyone can respond to this? i know i have had clean emg except for fasics, but don't know what to believe anymore. and: the emg has not been done in the muscles of the back, only in the limbs, so this would not be seen i guess....!?

I dont think you should worry. Everyone here says clean emg then your good. Im not one to give reasurance though given I am obssesed with my symptoms at this time. I do believe that a clean emg means your ok though.

ChauBao, I have communicated with folks on the **S Forum as well as a medical professional on the site that says no, **S twitches are not always slower or whatever. They can vary greatly. One day we will all realize that without any other tell tale signs, like WEAKNESS and ATROPHY, twitching is nature's way of letting us know we are tired, stressed and have too much adrenaline running through us especially in a panicky state, have had too much caffeine, exercised too much or just plain have some "glitch" in our muscles for the time being. The best thing is to try try TRY not to over analyze the twitches and their strength, frequency, location, etc. It is usually not a presenting symptom of anything major or life threatening. Even if your twitch is localized, the muscle has already or will be obviously dying - and without anything else going on, this is not the case at all. Have faith.

Hey Laurent, look, your twitching is more or less bodywide, you don't have weakness, and you have a clean EMG. This is enough to rule out **S... I've been to the neuro's and he hasn't done an EMG, but nevertheless I trust and believe him. I looked up his website and the list of all his publications, lectures and presentations... Boy, I'm impressed. He has travelled to all kinds of meetings and seminars all over Europe. It takes a lot to become a neuro: Years of studying medicine and then specialising on neurology, then work at the university hospital etc... It is utterly impossible for such a person to miss such a disease like **S and diagnose the patient with BFS without knowing what he's doing. Trust your doc. And remember: ALL twitches vary, it doesn't matter wether they are slower or faster. Mine for example always vary, from a almost vibration-like feeling to slow, single twitches.Hold your head high!
