Perceived Weakness in Left Arm: 8 Months

about a year ago i noticied body wide twitching and perceived weakness in my left arm. i was going through some hard times and the stresses of life just seem to make things worse. i convinced myself i had als or ms or some other terrible affliction. i went on some meds, got my life together and for about 8 months didn't really give my symptoms much thought. but after losing my girl, going from 175 to almost 200 lbs, and growing tired of the emotional numbness prozac caused i stopped taking medication. The good news is i lost 20lbs in about 2 months :D) , but my irrational fear of some neurological diease is creeping back into my life :( . im probably in the best shape i've been in since high school, but i'm up at 4 am checking als websites. i really just hoping to hear some reassuring words from ya'll, any support would be nice.

Now Warren, you know very well that checking out those nasty als sites is a BIG mistake. I read your history and you sound utterly, typically, unremarkably a bfser. A lot of people with bfs have one limb that they feel is weak, or funny in some way. For me it is my left leg, and I read where Morris_M told you about his arm.

It sounds like you had some emotional upheaval and you went to that spot in you that feeds your fear. That spot comprises and eensy weensy part of you, but creates quite a storm. Well, the storm is over now, and the sun is out...how about you go and play. You are well indeed.

Also Warren, you just mentioned that you are in the best shape ever since high school! After one year, don't you think you have some pretty distinguishable symptoms by now if were als?

Basso is right, you are feeding your fear by going to those sites. It will make you feel much worse. My advice is stay off them and if you are really concerned about your health, get checked out by a good neuro.

Kind regards,
