P90X: A Whole New Level of Workout

Not clinically weak! Just too wimpy for my newest workout!Probably not a nice way to start a post. You were probably worried about me for a second there, right? When BFS started for me 8 months ago, my whole life stopped, including my regular workouts. This summer, I began jogging and lifting weights again, but nothing too strenuous. Well today I started P90X. It totally kicked my ass! I did it last year and gained a good deal of strength. However, after so much time off, doing something so hard-core showed me how much strength I've lost. Did that make me feel nervous? Hell no! It's a TOUGH workout!Hopefully I'll stick with it. It's completely illogical to worry about a disease of weakness when you are torturing yourself with pushups, pullups, lunges, plyometrics, etc.

I like it a lot. It's something different every day, so it doesn't get boring. It is extremely tough though. I don't imagine I'll ever be doing multiple sets of 30 military pushups and completely unassisted pull-ups. However, it allows you to go at your own pace and reach your own personal best. After 90 days I'll move on to something else, maybe a bit easier. That is, if I stick it out! Why don't you get it, Amy. We'll do it together!

Thats a good idea!! I dont like the idea of being defeated by a game though lolol!! I know a lady that did this, and she lost like 40 lbs...I was like WOWOWOWOW!!! Good for her!~*~Amy~*~

So glad this thread is here today!!! I started my workouts again today too... I slacked off all summer because I was helping run a summer Youth Employment program where I was out walking all over NYC, ALL day, EVERY day, for 6 weeks. So I gave myself a break during those weeks, but that ended about 3 weeks ago.... I kind of cheat in that I do the Wii Fit... but my hubby and I are too cheap to join a gym here in NYC! When we bought it back in February I weighed like 140, the heaviest I have been, not obese by any means, but I was totally out of shape too (this was after sitting on the couch being unemployed for 8 months). So in February I started a job so I got to leave the house every day, I tried to stop snacking as much, and I stopped drinking soda on a regular basis (I maaaaaybe drink it once a week now), and by June I had lost almost 18 pounds... So its a long road, and you definitely have to change your eating habits, but you can lose lots of weight on video game excercises!Although, I have totally lost all flexibility and have gained 4 pounds back since then... it was a stressfull summer so despite all the walking I ate a lot too. But now I am back on the horse and determined to loose that 4 lbs. + the 3 that I didn't quite get off before I stopped. Also, regain my non-aching body when I get out of bed in the morning!!! I am only 23 and I was so tight and achy Sunday morning, after a long day of walking, that I had to do extra yoga and soak in a tub!!! Can't wait to get my body back!!!

just listening to you ladies talking about working out has made me tired  ...I'm 44 and I'm feeling it...I'm a pretty slim guy because my job is physical and to be honest, I'm so lazy that even the thought of working out exhausts me...come on girls encourage me to workout so I don't look like such a girly man compared to you!

Off the couch, girly man! Not being fat is no excuse. I don't have much extra weight either, but I'm feeling waaaaaay outta shape. We don't want to be all soft and doughy now do we? I'll be getting up at 5 am tomorrow for another round. (Boy, I hope I'm not lying! )

yeah it's true amy...when I do anything involving exercise I do seem to feel better mentally even if it tires me physically...I think I should get off my lazy butt and start some kind of routine....hmmm, I think I'll just blame it on all the good people I've met on this board for keeping me at my keyboard
