Hi all,I just wanted to provide everyone with a little update. I am rapidly approaching my 1 year mark with this dreadful condition. I've been seeing a great Nuerologist who has declared me healthy after multiple normal clinical exams, normal MRI of the brain & c-spine (Oct 2007) with contrast and a clean EMG (Feb. 2008). Awhile back this doctor suggested I get a second opinion for reassurance, he even offered up a referral to the Mayo Clinic. He felt I needed to hear it from someone else. Well a couple of weeks ago I saw another local Neurologist for my second opinion. He listened to my story. I told him everything from start to finish. My chief complaints now are bodywide internal shakes, internal tremors and buzzing. I also suffer from moderate twitching and muscle fatigue. I think the fatigue is a result of my insides being in constant overdrive. Anyway, he give me a clinical exam and says "your're stone cold normal". He further insists that I need to get ALS out of my mind because I don't have it. I continue to ramble to him that I also feel this and that, etc. His reply was "you're not telling me anything that's going to change my mind". He went on to tell me that this is most likely stress related. He said your not depressed but probably anxious. He explained that everyone has a tremor and that something has changed in my body. Now I have this exacerbated tremulus (his word, not mine) feeling and this is the sensation I am feeling inside. He said that it needs to be treated before this new me becomes permanent. According to him the way to treat this is through excercise, therapy and meds. I told him I am not a fan of meds and I don't feel I need any therapy. I opted for the excercise route. He agreed but told me that he wanted to see me in three months and if I wasn't any better he would push for me to comply with his treatment plan.At the conclusion of our appt I asked him if he had any experience with ALS. He informed me that he runs the ALS clinic in town. Also, he gave my regular Neurologist a strong endorsement. He said he would take his EMG over anyone elese. I take comfort in knowing I am seeing two very qualified Neuro's.So I am 1 year in and have been cleared by 2 highly credilbe docs. I've also had all the diagnostic testing come back normal. Hopefully this will translate into me overcoming this condition mentally. The physical symptoms, for the most part, don't affect my day to day life. However, the mental apsect can create havoc!CDC
