"not one person that has ever visited this site has gotten ALS."
Basso - you hit the nail right on the head.
I just lost a friend and co-worker to ALS. I can tell you that you do not think that maybe you might have it, you would KNOW that you have it (or you would know in a very short time). I had the same anxiety as everyone here when I started twitching as it happened around the same time he was diagnosed. I saw a Neuro and checked out fine (MRI, EMG, etc.). Seeing it progress first hand made me realize that what I was experiencing was not ALS. I still twitch, cramp, and ache, but I know that these annoyances are not fatal and are not the main symptoms of ALS. After seeing what my friend went through, I am almost emabarrassed that the thought even crossed my mind.
Just as my annoyances are not fatal, neither are yours. Try not to worry.
