Holy God, Sharon, why do you think orthopedist is wrong? Do not you have much handwork? Dont you have to use your hands for playing with the kids? Ulnar compression WAS a disease of tennis players, carpenters and milkers, yes, but nowadays many people have it in a mild form but bad enough to causing pains. Especially if your pain is related to grip action, irradiates in the wrist anf forearm - why you really should thing it is ALS for the good sake? It is typical syptom of nerve compression, I have it, my sister in law had it (pain was really hardly bearable in her case and she had two fingers unable to flex - paralysed practically, but she got treatment and got them back), many people have it, believe me.Sharon, on my point of view, if you can not sleep and ensured yourself that you are dying, then you need also a help of professional consultant. Practically many people have no idea (and how they can got it, I wonder) what to do with the fears of death. Such fears would catch us earlier or later in the life. And it is very hard to deal with them without a proper help. The sooner you will find a helper in that issue, the better. No meds itself could be too helpful, no good advise would make you back to reasonable life. You lost your criticism to the situation, your frontal lobes can not help you and all info you receive from the world (including your orthopedist opinion, for example) gets directly to the amygdala (a part of brain causing strong emotionsl reactions and fight or flee status in whic you are trapped now. That is how stress and fear works, it is normal process inherited from our wildlife ancestry but it is a trap since we are not too animal any more and do not have a real enemy to fight or flee in that case. That is why consultancy or speaking therapy is necessary - it helps to recharge your frontal lobes and restore your own ability to rule emotions.with many many sympathies,Yulia
