I think with drugs, it's absolutely urgent we:
* work with a professional, who can help us interpret what is likely to be a drug side effect, or something we are experiencing (for whatever reason) that is not the drugs. I think a SYMPATHETIC AND UNDERSTANDING physician, preferably of the psychiatrist variety would be optimal.
* understand in this class of drugs (maybe all classes), EVERYONES' experience will differ. One size does not fit all. I actually know a few people for whom Wellbutrin worked great on ANXIETY, and others such as Beau, it stunk for. I'm on BuSpar, which is one of the few drugs spearately and technically classified as an anti-anxiety med, and it has been a miracle drug for me (though it takes a long, gradual time to get there!), but others who say it is no better than placebo, plain and simple. Paxil was a nightmare for me - over time it might have done some good, but the ramp UP in anxiety when I took it was so bad, they had to put me on BP meds. Ugh. Everyones' experience will differ.
* know why we're taking them, what we expect to get out of them, and how they work (and do not work). So often I see someone trying this one, or seeing about that one. The info on the net is so varied, and biased, we cannot carve through it on our own. So, professional help and explanation (if you can find it) is the truest roadmap to successful use, and discontinuation.
Hope you find an answer that's right for you.
