Hello all,
I thought I would share my experience, fears, testing, and diagnosis with you all. I am a 28 years old male and have recently had a full neurology exam, a brief ENT exam by an MD friend of mine, (-)CT, (-)MRI, and (-) blood work including muscle enzymes. As far as my symptoms. 2 years prior I had a 2 mos. period where I had muscle twitching all over my body. At the time I just thought it was stress and didnt think much of it at all. My most recent flare up was what really freaked me out.
It began one day with an on/off/on rythmic buzzing sensation on my back. At about the same time I noticed that my tongue and jaw would tense up for a split second while talking occasionally. Within 1 week, I was really slurring words (noticed by my wife and coworkers), had intermittent tremors of my tongue and lips, and the body wide muscle twitching started again. It was hard to go to sleep because my tongue was jumping around in my mouth crazy-like. I was completely obsessed and feaked out by these symptoms and was convinced I was having an initial MS exacerbation.
Now that my MRI results were negative I can rest easy and can chalk up my weird neurological symptoms to BFS. Thank you all for sharing your experiences, this site helped bring some peace of mind in a very scary time.
