Newly Diagnosed BFS: Help?

My husband is newly diagnosed with BFS. Clean EMG. Constant 24/7 fasciculations in calves, fasciculations all over his body, popping in the back, stiffness in neck that seems to spread to jaw at night. After having trouble sleeping, he began taking 1/2 of a muscle relaxer....seems to help somewhat. I guess it just makes him sleepy enough to kind of ingore the annoyance. Anyone have a comment on muscle relaxers?

He has also increased Magnesium intake since I've started reading the posts on this site. Either the magnesium or a reduced level of anxiety seem to have made his fasciculations a bit better.

Thanks to everyone who shares. You are truly the BOMB DIGGITY!

I periodically will take a muscle relaxant (Flexeril)...I take them mostly when I am having a bad bout of cramping...helps ward of the nighttime cramps...also quiets the fasciculations a bit..

Klonopin is a bit of both a muscle relaxant and anti-anxiety med. I find it reduces both the cramps and twitching a bit (I wish there was something that was a complete solution but I don't think there really is)

Ativan is an anti anxiety med but has a tiny bit of benefit for muscle relaxing.... I think I noticed some difference in my twitches at first but not so much now... Not really sure

Hello-

I take flexeril for twitching in my feet and legs that I can feel and see. It has not made ANY difference in my twitches. They have slowed down after about 4 months of straight constant twitching. I dont attribute this to the flexeril....it does make you feel good and ready to relax though. I cant remember one night of taking 10mgs of flexeril that it slowed or stopped the twitching. I just think time and patience is the only thing that can help them. I had to wear my socks all the time...even at night so I could sleep because they were so bad in my feet.

Best of luck to you all
