New to Twitching: Coping Strategies

I am new to this website and love it! I have been twitching non-stop since the 1st of August (this year 2010). I have been through the ups and downs, then mental and the physical....and since I am so new at this....I have found a couple of things that help me take my mind off the twitching. Perhaps one day, I will be able to ignore the twitches like some of you can, but not yet. These two things have helped me immensely. My worse times are sitting at my desk and trying to go to sleep at night. For sitting at my desk, I bought a foot massager that vibrates. The vibrating takes my mind off the twitches, feels quite pleasant and gives me a break. For going to sleep, I have discovered that an osculating fan on bare legs does the trick. The air movement "hides" the leg twitches enough that I can go to sleep. Hope these suggestions helps others and if anyone has any other "tricks" I would love to hear them!

Judy....what a great message...when a lot of us in the early months...including me turned to meds you have found a way to cope...I hope your home remedy continues to bring you relief.Steve

The only time i get relief is in the shower, the jet spray blasting down my body is ace. If the wife steps in and joins me Bingo

I never actually thought of using a fan to alleviate some of my leg symptoms. Environmental distractions really are helpful, aren't they? As someone mentioned in a previous post, the condition we all have isn't debilitating. If there's a way we can ease our minds away from the consistent twitching, we can live normals lives. Unfortunately, I'm still in the process of trying to distract my mind on other things. In the meantime, the twitching is constantly on my mind. :(
