New to Site: Experiencing Twitches

Hi all,New to the site so thought I would share what I am going through and get some thoughts. About 8 weeks ago I started get twitches all over by body including my tongue while at rest. I tend to only feel the twitches when sitting, lying down, standing still etc. Having suffered from anxiety I was reasonably quick to dismiss my twitches as BFS initially as I had no signs of ‘weakness’ as the hallmark ALS sign and also mentioned it to my neuro at the time who said it was BFS – although he didn’t perform a particularly thorough exam. However over the past couple of weeks I have started to feel a definite sense of weakness/heaviness in my right calf muscle which is particularly pronounced after any sort of prolonged pressure/use i.e. driving or walking for a while. I have also noticed it tends to make my walking more labored i.e. almost like I need exert more effort for that leg. The fact that the ‘weakness’ is only in one leg really worries me – that said I can walk on my toes and heals even thought it seems to strain my calve.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

DH32,Sounds like BFS to me. You should check out the chat room (link below). There are plenty of fellow BFSers on there who can answer questions about your symptoms. With ALS, there is no real "feeling" of weakness, your muscle just wouldn't work. What you are describing is very common with BFS. Our nerves are excited and it can tire out our muscles. I am also an all over twitcher including my tongue. Here is the link if you are interested....-Matt
