New Symptom: Head Tremors

Ok... I posted a week or so ago about some head temors. Its a new symptom. I've had BFS for 10 years now and according to my neuro its the worst case she has seen. I have been hoping against hope that this tremors in my head are related to medication I've been taking, but I'm afraid its not the medication after all.The tremors are coming more often and lasting longer. I have an appointment with my neuro on November 30th. Its the earliest I can get in... I'm teaching out of the country and won't be back until mid November. Its been my dream since I was just a little girl to travel. I feel like my window of opportunity just got slammed shut.I'm terribly depressed and worried. I've wanted to cry all day, but I probably won't stop if I start. I don't have a laptop... I won't be able to get on the internet very often to check my email. If anyone has head tremors along with bfs I would LOVE to hear back that I'm not going to end up with some other dreaded disease.Patricia

I had head tremors when my twitching first started but they were only a sensation when I laid down to sleep. The were not visible and went away when I stood up. My medication has eliminated them but I know that they went along with the twitching because both are too unusual to have happened simultaneously and not be connected. If your symptoms are interefering with your ability to enjoy travel, what medication is your doctor suggesting. I found Klonopin to help tremendously. I would hate to see you suffer if you do not have to.

I have had face and hand tremors comes on with the twitching but the tremors seems less now I like to think and can be overall anxiety added in to the mix.I do not think tremor is a symptom of the main worry here and can be essential tremor. Are tjhey are rest or when you do something like make a face or smile?

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. It gives me hope. I am writing from Apeldoorn Netherlands. So I am fulilling my dream and hope to do more! I teach tomorrow. I am teaching my passion which is balloon twisting. I notice that the head tremor is at its worst first thing in the morning. Its as if the adreanline that wakes you is affecting it. I seem to have spells of tremors throughout the day. One funny thing that happened is I woke myself in the night with the tremor. I am not certain if it is only a head tremor. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to know it may be part of bfs. I will have to ask about klonopin. I am according to my Dr. not premenopausal any more so I don't think it is hormonal. Thank you again for your replies!Patricia

Patricia, I am a BIGTIME tremorer with my bfs. I don't visit this board much, anymore, but I can assure you, this is nothing new under the bfs sun. I think I had bfs already for several years before the tremors emerged, and really, they are what made me suddenly realize I had something strange going on. The twitches never concerned me all that much. I just figured I was drinking too much caffeine. LOL. My head, trunk, jaw, hands, and even legs have tremored at various times. It is both visible and invisible. No one ever diagnosed me with benign, essential tremor, in fact, mine were only once labeled, "anxiety tremors" by a particularly insensitive neurologist. A specialist I went to subsequently commented, "how would HE know?" Anyway, mine have improved, significantly over time, and I can tell you that anxiety ABOUT them will make them much worse. If you can learn to shrug it off, just like your other bfs symptoms, you will be well on your way to feeling a whole lot better. I don't need or take any meds for my symptoms. At my worst, I probably could have used them, but in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't. Blessings, Sue

Hey Suzie Q....long time no see! Hope all is well with you. I am fine. Working and running my little ones around daily to their activities! Looking forward to Thanksgiving break!

It's been a while since I posted this subject. My hard drive on my computer failed and I had to get it replaced. Then I got really sick and since all this happened I had to search to find my original post. LOLWell I went to the Neuro and she said there was a small risk that it was ALS but she felt it was either an essential tremor or a familial tremor. She said everyone in the world has an essential tremor... everyone! Its absolutely annoying, but other than that I honestly believe it it NOT ALS. I just feel like I'm falling apart an inch at a time.Patricia
