New Symptom and Jaw/Throat Issues

Hi friends,
I have a new symptom that is really scaring me...
I have had the excess saliva/phlegm thing off and on for the last three months since this all started. Also a burning tongue, mouth....

Now for the last few days, I have a fatigue in my lower jaw and my throat seems to not want to swallow sometimes. This is worse by the end of the day and is usually worse after I eat.

Should I go back to the GP? Is this alarming? Am I over-reacting?

Hi teach,
I've had the same exact symptoms, not to worry.

I even insisted on having a swallowing study, and I choked on the barium as it went down. I made my poor husband grind all of my food into baby food because I was so afraid of choking,

Try to relax and take your mind off of the strangeness in your body. You will grow accustomed to new symptoms as they come and go, wax and wane.

I know this is easier said than done, but you are not alone in this and are in excellent company here.

Lots of people with bfs have similar experiences.

Be in peace...

teach,

stop worrying and focusing on your body. when my bfs started I had the exact same symptoms. What happens is that you read about excess saliva being associated with als, then the mind begins to concern itself with saliva - something you have NEVER thought of until now, finally it reinforces your fear and the cycle repeats and repeats...

be calm - you are fine.

I'm supposed to be taking a break since my own draining
second visit to the neuro today but I couldn't help but post that she insisted I had no tongue issues depite the fact that for six months now since this started-excess saliva was one of my #1 symptoms. If you search it you will see it was my first post here and was I freaked too..
She just said 'if you can't swallow it' that's an issue. I honestly do not think that any doctor in the world has a clue what causes excess saliva (apart from perhaps poisoning type incidents as posted above) Even though I am starting to feel calmer and that I can reclaim my life I still have the saliva AFTER the apt!!

The other swallowing issues I've heard from SO MANY regular GPS
and TONS of sources other than this board have me pretty much totally
convinced in the correlation with anxiety. Oh and I've had tongue burning/
numb patches that I was certain was affecting my speech-big time for two months now. Since MS was ruled out she said only a bag of worms type effect on the tongue is cause for concern. One again I think it's just another 'great mystery of the world' symptom of BFS...since I just got a very blank and unphased look when I asked about the tongue sensations..
