New Poster: Twitching Since June

Hi,I'm Gloria, I'm 23 and am a new poster, but I've been lurking for two months. My twitching started all over in the beginning of June. The twitches usually last only a second or so and are most noticeable at night when I'm lying down, although it happens when I'm out and about too. I went to the neurologist last month and he did reflex tests, etc., on me but no EMG or scans, since he just brushed it off as stress/anxiety and said it'd go away on its own. I've been just trying to ignore the twitches, but I started getting nausea about two weeks ago, although I still force myself to eat, I get queasy for some reason (not pregnant/other woman problems). Its been going on for more than a week. I went to a family doc, ruled out H. pylori infection, and had blood tests done which came back normal for thyroid, Ca/Mg, CBC, electrolytes, liver function, etc. So okay, I try to ignore the nausea too, but then three days ago I started getting a persistent itch all over my body and little pin pricks of pain with no apparent cause, like my skin/nerves are hypersensitive or something. And I itch all over; my ear, legs, back, scalp... I changed my sheets, have the same soap as before, eat the same pretty much, nothing's changed. I have an appointment tomorrow with another neuro, but has anyone experienced nausea or itching with BFS or is that something else... I still have twitching, especially this persistent one on my foot/pinky toe.

I get nausea with BFS, but for me it's generally caused by IBS (irritable bowel). Are you having any IBS or incontinence problems? IBS and BFS tend to go hand in hand. In my case when one is bad the other one is generally bad as well. When that happens I will feel nauseous for weeks.

No, that's normal for me, at least as far as I can tell. No diarrhea/constipation. Its just this queasy sensation in my stomach, sometimes making me eat less or lose appetite. And I've never had bulimia/anorexia or any kind of eating problem before. I guess its something separate from the twitching.

It might be worth your while to rule out a food sensitivity. They are different than food allergies, as the symptoms are mild and not life threatening. Food sensitivities can be developed in adulthood and are largely undiagnosed because they symptoms are vast and vary person to person. Twitching and itching are two known documented symptoms of food sensitivities, but I'm not sure about the nausea. Food sensitivities can be tested for via blood tests and are not the same as food allergy tests. Food allergy reactions are almost immediate whereas sensitivities can take up to 72 hours to show up after you eat something. This is why a blood test is necessary vs. the standard skin tests used for food allergy testing. There are treatments available through homeopathic doctors to treat and eliminate food sensitivities, so its not the end of the world if that ends up being your culprit. The major symptoms I had because of recently developed food sensitivities were twitching and anxiety.

That's interesting, how does a food sensitivity come out from blood tests? What kinds of foods? I can't think of what I've been eating that's different. Rice, meat, salad, mangos, tea, lemonade... do you still get twitches? Thanks for your help, you guys!
