Hi, I'm a new member! I am a 24 year old male. I am very happy to join this group/message board. I began twitching a few days ago and like many of you was worried about als. The fear really has depressed me.
My twitching is mainly in my calves, though it can be in my heel and thigh, though I'm not sure if all of these are twitches or not. I have this creepy cralwy feeling sometimes on the hairs of my leg as if something is on me, and it's worse when I am sitting down. Maybe restless leg syndrome because I constantly have to shake my legs while I sit.
Anyway, my question is this. I read a lot from this message board and someone mentioned that als related twitches occur because of muscle atrophy and weakness. Would this mean that a muscle with als would have to be weakened or damaged for a considerable time say (5-10 months like someone sort of mentioned) and THEN the twitching would occur?
I have my twitching but my muscles feel fine. I have no weakness. I'm taking it day by day and praying and hoping for the best.
thanks,
