Neurologist Visit: All is Fine

Hi all!!Thought I would share with you what my neuro shared today....I had a f/u with my neurologist today just to go over all the numerous tests I have had...All is fine on that end. I mentioned the twitching and some cramping and his thoughts on BFS. He was not at all concerned about the twitching or cramping for that matter. He did another strength test in my arms, hands, etc... he said all normal and good. He said he has many patients with BFS, and he said their symptoms range from mild to life altering. He said BFS is a very real diagnosis, though he didn't say that's what I had, due to the fact it could have been a drug reaction to the prednisone. He said that if cramping would become a problem there are medications and supplements that can be tried. He said that basically twitching and cramping without weakness does not mean *** period. He said he had a young woman about my age (35), who of course googled twitching and thought she had ***. He said that twitching doesn't mean it's *** and that's what people think because the internet pulls it up. He said most twitches really are benign and harmless. Just like on this site, he said some come and go, and others will last a lifetime. He did say that there is a herediary link to this condition. I asked if anxiety could make it worse? He said yes, possibly (as in my case, on prednisone, off prednisone, strange symptoms, google, I am dying ... you get the drift). He said it's harmless, yet can be annoying. Most people just learn to live with it and not pay attention to it.He also said that if they do an emg on one part of the body (they only did my one leg), they usually see something that would point to some kind of weakness. He said there is some indicator on the physical exam or the strength tests that is a red flag. He said I have had nothing at all to indicate there is any kind of major progressive neurological issue going on. He said come back in 6 months. He wants to check my symptoms again at that time.My point being BFS is real and though can be scary, symptoms vary and it's harmless. Andrea
