Neuro Appointment: Hoping for Answers

The neuro was able to get me in tomorrow, and I hope she can ease my mind. I wouldn't mind if she would say this whole stiffness thing is an effect of the Fibromyalgia or that I get an actual diagnosis of BFS. It would help me to stop worrying about it so much.
I did notice this weekend that being really busy seemed to help and sitting around seemed to make it much worse. Also, not only have I had that numb/stiff feeling (which makes no difference in the way I move and has no effect on coordination or strength), but my joints have felt sort of sore, almost swollen (they aren't). Mom has arthritis and has had it at an early age. At least if it is that, it can be controlled by meds.

This is all happening at a really bad time, though. I start a new job in 2 weeks, and don't want to go into it with a horrible disease. I don't think that the neuro is going to change her mind and say I have MS or ALS, but my pessemistic mind can't stop thinking about it, either.

BTW, all of my MRI's and bloodwork were OK. What do you guys think I should expect tomorrow?

I'm glad you have the neuro appt tommorrow. Not because I think you have any sinister disease just because waiting causes more worry and it will be nice to have it over with and share good news with the rest of us.

A usual neuro exam includes testing of reflexes, cranial nerves and various strength tests. At one of my neuro exams, the neuro did an emg right then. At most, if they think an emg is needed it will be scheduled at a later time. It varies I think from neuro to neuro.

Let us know how it goes. :)

I've had a basic neuro exam (and I had a nerve conduction test that didn't use needles, thank God) and all has always been normal.
Do you think they will do an EMG anyway?
The nerve conduction was bad enough, and I hear EMG's involve needles

I've had in all 7 emgs over the past 4 years and yes there are some needles involved. I must say I do not find it painful except for when they did my thumb. That smarted at bit but not too bad. The last emg done by my original neuro was just nerve conduction velocity. When I asked him why no needles his reply was with a normal neuro exam and normal nerve conduction tests, there would be no reason to put me through the discomfort again. Hope this helps you !!!
