Nervous About Recent Symptoms

Hello everyone. I'm new here and am very nervous about my recent symptoms. A month ago I was suddenly hit with intense weakness throughout my whole body one evening without prior symptoms. Since then I have had general weakness and fatigue. Lately my legs are constantly tired. I have also developed non-stop twitching and fascilations throught my body. They happen most often in my legs but I get them head to toe. Of course I did a little research and always seemed to come up with ALS. Now, I'm extremely scared and nervous and the twitch has seemed to have gotten worse within the past week. They're mostly like little single twitches that bounce all over. Some of them are so small they almost feel like a tickle. I recently read about BFS and was wondering if these symptoms are similar. I'm 25 years old and am freaking out about ALS.

Hi,

It would be extremely rare that a person your age would get als. In addition, fasics in als doesnt normally present themself in the way you describe your fasics. In als they would often start in one place, and then migrate from that place, and to other places in the body, not random twitches as you describe. remember that als is a very rare disease. also als is a rapid progressive disease, making you weaker and weaker by the day, you describe your weakness as pretty stable, and that also speaks against als and in the favour of bfs.

when that is said, you probably should see a doctor about this. your weakness may be something you think you have, or you may have real weakness, this is something your doctor can test for you.

hope this helps, and stay off the als sites, they wont help your anxiety, only make them worse
