Need Advice: Twitching for Two Years

OK, I am still relatively new to this whole thing and I am having a very bad week. Just need some input to keep my head together.

A little background: 33 year old male. I first noticed twitching 2 years ago in my right calf. It was visible and lasted for about 24 hours. It went away and I forgot about it until 4 months ago when my right calf started twitching again like crazy and lasted for 3-4 days. It then calmed down. For the past 4 months, my right calf has been pretty much twitching 24/7, but I cannot really feel it and only notice it if I stare at my calf. Sometimes it is very noticeable, sometimes not much at all. I also started to experience lesser twitching to my biceps, triceps, back, chest, lips, eyes, etc. They come and go pretty quickly and are usually pretty infrequent.............

until this week of course. This week I all of a sudden started having bad twitching all over my body. It comes and goes all over (except for my right calf which is constant) and is pretty frequent. My eyelids, back, legs, lips, scalp, neck, forearms, etc have all been twitching. Sometimes it feels like a vibrating sensation, sometimes like a creepy crawly feling, and sometimes just like a normal twitch.

No weakness or wasting I can see. I do tend to get a little sore after excercise, but not sure if that is normal due to me getting older. I still feel very strong and healthy.

So now I am freaking out. I am worried it may be something serious like Lymes Disease or some other neurological disorder. I have never seen a doctor yet for this, but have an appointment scheduled for Thursday. I realize, however, it will be awhile before I know anything.

Just looking for any input. THANK YOU!!

Dear Vessel,
I wish I had fasciculations for two years; I'm not there yet (eight months and counting). The most important aspect of your symptoms is no weakness and no wasting. I seriously doubt this is anything serious, probably BFS like everyone else here. Facial fascicualtions (lips and eyelids) are almost non existant in ALS. The bottom line is a good neurological exam and an EMG is the way to go. If both of those are normal you can relax and stop worrying about it; and don't pay attention to the internet nonsense of twitching for years becoming ALS, it simply ain't so! Good Luck!!

Sorry the above reply is mine. For some reason the board didn't log me in the first time. I don't think it likes AOL.
