Mystery of Twitching Fiancée!

Today two very strange things occurred in the Patton household.1. My non fasciculating fiancée who has listened to my endless twitching stories started to twitch. Visible and repetitive twitches on her thighs and legs. At first I was like yeah right but then she showed me. I saw at least 10 twitches and she complained of many more I couldn't see or stopped before I saw them.hmm hmmm hmm interesting... is it a toxic influence in our apartment...ikea furniture? my body odour?coincidence?2. I found myself watching youtube vids of mnd patients(silly I know) I was too scared before but I watched and their twitches looked very dissimilar to mine.UNTIL about 15 mins later I looked at my calf and boom a twitch just like the one on the video!!!! FREAKY. I have watched my calves like a hawk for nearly 4months and never saw a twitch like that and 15 mins after the video... boom...coincidence? I did read about als before I had twitching(scared of ms)can the mind make your calves twitch 24/7....who knows. So I have decided to leave this website for a couple of weeks.I am gonna try and banish all thoughts of twitching and als. No aboutbfs, no youtube,no medical papers, textbooks nothing and see what happens to my symptoms. Even if nothing happens it'll be good for me.Its a long shot but il see you guys in a few weeks and let you all know.RegardsDarragh

I am very good friends with a girl on here who used to post about a year ago. We talk on the phone and her husband also has twitches. She mentioned this to a doctor who said possibly they may have had the same type of virus which may have caused the twitches. The virus therory has been mentioned so many times and I think it is a real possibility. So, the fact that your wife started to twitch may mean something.

My husband and I are both twitchers, I just dont talk about his that much on here because he thinks his twitches are funny when they happen. He got hit to a lesser degree than I did, but we both started twitching, about the same time. He has random hot spots, and he will twitch in the same spot for a few days, and then the twitches will go quiet, then a few days latter they come back again. He also has the leg pain, and we both feel better with our legs drawn up, and we sit like this alot. He does not find much humor in the touchy nerves that seems to come with this. He was at a stop light the other day in his old company truck, and the truck died and he had to get out in the middle of traffic, and get under the hood, and he said his hands and arms where tremoring and shaking so hard, and my husband is one of those who is always calm, and collected with any stressor he is faced with, hmm, not anymore, LOL. Now when a stressor comes around you can visibly see his hands shake. He is from England, so he prides himself on his British etiquette, and keeping his cool, so this experience has been bothersome for him to say the least. My only theory for why I got hit harder was because of maybe the fact that I still had not recovered well from the C-section that I had a year before, I was already in poor health from that, so my system was already compromised and unable to fight as hard as his did. Thats just what I think anyways, we will never really know.So yeah, I'm all in on the virus theory....Its the only thing that really makes sense in mine and my husbands situation. As for the Somatization theory, I dont think we started twitching because we noticed eachothers twitches, I just think we caught the same thing.Once again, I guess we will never really know.Robynn :D)

Darr..firstly...a slap on the wrist for doing a Dr Google!!! As you have found out it does you know good and serves no positive purpose!! The whole coincidence thing is just that, and you have had these twitches for ages, but your mind has been focused by the MND video...you know the rest...!The virus thing....possibly?? I think mine is a result of years of stress/anxiety resluting in hypersensitive nerves...but who knows. Also as SAM has has talked about, I also believe there could be some 'allergy' thing going on. I said to someone the other day, there is a lot more to BFS than we know, and certainly involves a LOT more than just twitchy muscles. Totally underrated/understood as to the 'system' issues as a result of, as well as the causes. Let us know what happens Darr. My bet is the only thing that will change is the mindset, and as a consequnece your perception of the issue and resultant perceived 'physical' changes (for the better!). ie you are fine!!!!!see yaRodger
