Mysterious Twitching and Leg Pain

Latley I've had a lot of twitching on my back, especially in the lower part and on the shoulders. I'm not sure, but it don't seems to me it's a common spot. Any input on this ?
Also, my leg right leg is hurting, it's been hurting for months, and then I got orthopedic shoes and it felt better, but now it's back, with a lot of twitching too. What do you think ?
Finally, as I am relatively new on this forum, I wanted to know, according to all the studies and the experiences you may have, what is the "safe" interval (if there is any) after the first fascs. and the eventual other symptoms - so you can be sure that you don't have als. I've seen people here who here happy because they got past four months, or six, or one year. Si what's the story ?
I must say again that this place is wonderful. I'm fighting hard to eradicate my fears, with ups and downs, and you people are helping me a lot, it's like we're all friends, all on the same ship.
There's no such place in France.
Thanks again.

I get back and side twitches a lot, especially left side and like wildfire after a spinal was done. The pain is most likely unrelated to bfs (and definitely not a symptom w/als!). As far as a safe time limit goes, twitching for one day w/out weakness is a good sign. In almost every case weakness preceeds the twitching. Not only that, but not all als patients twitch and if they do they usually don't even realize it. Sounds like you're pretty safe.

Fab:

I get twitches on my shoulder blades that make me feel as if someone was poking me in the back. But truthfully, I get the same types of twitches many, many other places too.

And...there's a spot on the outside of one calf that has sort of ached for months. I thought it was a result of one of our dogs sort of plopping onto me while I was doing some floor exercise, but since it has been around for so long, I am thinking it's just one more manifestation of that stupid BFS. I don't notice any twitches specifically in that area.

Anyway, your symptoms sound so typical. I think you are just fine - for a twitchy person! [laughing emoticon here; Mozilla web browser kept sticking it at the END of my message]

My opinion on the period of time before you can say you're just a BFSer? It's not a professional's opinion. From what I've heard most often, you'd probably know within 3 months if your symptoms were something worse than BFS. Because I had such sudden onset of my twitching, I was able to be objective enough to realize that by 3 months, I was definitely NOT any worse than when it started.

You are so right -- wonderful people are on this board. The support here is priceless. I am sane (or at least as sane as pre-BFS), thanks to you all.

Here Here on the back twitches....used to be a real hot-spot for me. Now I just get occasional thumpers, mainly after exercise or if I've been holding my kids for a long time. Also, they seem to be more concentrated at night once I lay down for bed.

Feels funny huh? Not to worry.

Thank you -
alyLeoNCali : you know, I was about to get really fine (6+ twitching, perceived weakness that was so erratic that it defintely was just perceived) when I heard about this mayo vs. canadian story a few days ago, and it took me back 6 months ago. *They* say somewhere that the average time is 7 months and that the maximum time is 13 months ! So I guess I'll have to wait
In the meantime, I find it hard to imagine a man going to his doctor, saying, "ok, I've been twitching for twelve months but otherwise I'm fine", and the neuro is performing basic physical test, and they're ok, and one month after the guy is having full-blown als !!
I know I should probably get an emg. I want to think that I can live without it. Saw a gp and a neuro this summer and they said I was fine, but it was 6 months ago.
Well, I don't know. Someone in the back of my head tells me there's nothing to woryy about, but there are other voices too, you know the story, and it's a chronic pain, a constant companion I wish I could get rid of... Hope I'll make it.
Thanks anyway.
