Mysterious Lip Spasms Diagnosis

Hello, I started with occasional muscle spasms of my lower lip back in May and didn't think much of it. Finally in July, I started realizing this could be a problem as it happened daily and for sometimes hours. Saw a neuro three weeks ago who did a neurological exam and said it was normal. Had an MRI because he was looking for brain stem tumor. Don't want to worry anyone, so to explain, I had melanoma and my twitch was only in one place for months, that is why he felt it necessary to do the mri. My lower lip spasm was bilateral which he said was odd too. It also was a continual, strong, bilateral quick twitch that lasted for hours sometimes. I videoed it on my iphone and he said he's never seen anything like it. That kind of worried me since he is about 60 years old, associated with a reputable teaching hospital as an associate clinical professor and is a specialist in motor problems. Anyway.... Since my neuro appointment three weeks ago, I have developed random, frequent single twitches all over my body (when I am sitting still or trying to go to sleep). I'm talking FREQUENT... like I started counting once and it was like 10 in two minutes. I'm guessing stress?? The twitching can happen in both thighs, calfs, arms, hips, butt, hand, etc... Also just noticed when I look really closely my upper lip is very lightly spasming like my lower lip does except it seems continual. Very light and I don't feel it. With all these twitches, I am worried about the EMG. Is there any way possible that it could be negative even with all this twitching?

10 in two minutes is nothing, compared to many folks on this board. Not to belittle it, but really, that is less than most people. Happy that your MRI was clean.Pretty much all of us who have had EMGs have had good ones despite our constant twitching. The fasciculations showed up on my EMG, but that didn't mean anything to the neuro. Fasciculations do not make a "dirty" EMG.

there is a huge chance that it wuld be normal despite on fasiculations or twitches.Twitch itself does not mean neurodegeneration.
